  • Yes, affiliate marketing does work, but you have to put in the effort to advertise and marketing the products/services you are offering as an agent of various companies.

I would suggest you set up a website or blog on a specific niche that you are interested in and write daily/weekly on your subject. Support the articles/blog posts with your affiliate links which are subject related. Use Twitter to drive visitors to your site or blog See my profile at http://twitter.com/Steve_SEO_UK for example. Help others to solve problems and they will have confidence in what you have to offer. Build friendships over time, then soft sell them.

    I personally promote Amazon products.

    Hope this helps,
    Steve

  • Of course they work, except the scams. The commission is usually very small, but if you have a site that has loads of visitors and you sell a load of product/service then you will make a bit of money. Make sure you are the direct affiliate and not a third party. For example If I am an afilliate of Amazon it doesn't work if I use you as my affiliate.

  • I've been into affiliate marketing for a couple of years now, so I'd say it works. You can make a lot of money doing it, but it won't be a cake walk, like most people make it seem. If you're just starting out, I'd suggest that u sign up with clickbank.

What are the ways I can advertise an e-commerce website?

Resolved Question

What are the ways I can advertise an e-commerce website?

I would be very grateful for an answer.

Best Answer - Chosen by Asker

Free traffic from search engines takes an investment of much SEO labor and can take months produce results, search for the term backlinks and doFollow to find sources of links, each with tiny rank boosting value. You can find high ranking sites that will link to you for a price, on webmaster forums, though not search engine approved, many high ranked sites have unlikely paid looking looking "blogroll" links to them.

Pay Per Click advertising produces immediate traffic, at a known per visitor premium cost, the more obscure your product niche is, the cheaper the ad prices will tend to be. Once costing a nickel, these days $0.25 to $1.00 is a common PPC price range.

The big boys will purchase blocks of ad impressions for thousands of dollars, sometimes as a source of branding, some customers don't come around until they accustomed to your name .

You can play like the big boys by placing banner ads on a site that closely matches your subject, buysellads.com is a brokerage that matches sites to buyers, use the search filters and cost slider to narrow the list of candidates.

The big time well funded sites know through experience the value of a new prospect ad of a customer, and budget their advertising accordingly, knowing the repeat buying patterns of the average customer they will even take as loss on the first sale, knowing i the long run it pays off. Advertising costs are just a part of business.

Are there websites that pay you to fill out surveys (or anything similar) ...?

Whether its a company and you go in person to fill out surveys, or fill them out online, etc.

There's a site called YouGov. You set up an account and they'll periodically send you polls that you accumulate points for completing. You can get different prizes like movie tickets and tote bags, but if you accumulate enough points they will send you $100.

  • yes, there are a lot -HOWEVER, there is a huge catch that you will learn once you sign on.

Nothing in life is free, so when the place says free they always have some circumstances that cause it to be a huge pain. The list I know of will follow

    1. They pay you but only pennies for an hour survey
    2. They pay you but it is in gift certificates that are only redeemable with applied conditions
    3. they will pay you but only after you purchase the product they want to know about
4.they say they will pay you but keep it under conditional lock and key until you jump through flaming hoops

The only one I have seen that is actually honest was aspen research but now I am not so sure because I tend to stay away from those type of things and get reviews from people who have used it
  • There are plenty of sites that pay you to take surveys. If you are considering giving them a try then I would read up a little more information about them on the following sites

    http://paid-surveys-scam.blogspot.com
    http://theauthorityon.com/category/inter…

these two sites should answer any questions you have about taking online surveys for cash and help you to avoid scams.
  • My favorite is fusion cash. I think this one makes you the most money and you receive payment the fastest. You can get the money direct deposited within 1-5 business day, you can get it via paypal, or you can receive a check.

Getting a check from any survey site usually takes about a month so I recommend papal or direct deposit although this is the only site that offers both.

At fusion cash you can make $3 for every referral you get that signs up and completes one offer. You make $3 a month for posting in the forum. You receive a $5 sign up bonus. You usually receive from .50 - 2.00 per every free offer you complete.

Free offers are basically signing up for free sites and giving them your spam email and your address but they never send you anything.

I personally recommend making an email just for these sites.

You can do the offers you pay for but I personally do not.

I have been doing these sites for about a year now and it definitely comes in handy because I am a stay at home mom.

    http://www.fusioncash.net/?ref=candycanes

The second I'll recommend is Winspinwin.com. This site is the easiest to do. You spin a wheel and make anywhere from .10 to winning the jackpot.

I also recommend Inbox dollars. This site pays you for free offers, surveys, and checking the emails they send you.

    http://www.inboxdollars.com/?r=ref5377834
  • Yes there are some very good ones.

I am involved with one which pays you for surveys, reading emails, post and surfing the web. The best thing is it's mixed with a social site too so you can meet peoplealong the way.

  • Sorry, I don't know of any. But since I'm here, does anyone know any websites that will pay me to take my trash outside every Wednesday?

  • Industry positioning may refer to the magazine demographic or who the magazine thinks their readers are.

Al Ries and Jack Trout wrote one of the first books on the subject way back in 1981. It's called "Positioning, The Battle For Your Mind, How to be seen and heard in the over crowded marketplace". He's updated it a few times. If you can't find a copy in your local library just search the keyword "Positioning" at Amazon.

SPSS scatterplot help!! i cant click on "Add Fit Line at Total" button to add regression line.?

Resolved Question

SPSS scatterplot help!! i cant click on "Add Fit Line at Total" button to add regression line.?

This has been asked before but without a comprehensible answer so here goes.. to obtain a fit line for a scatter plot in SPSS you are supposed to double click on the graph (accessing the chart editor) and then click on the "Add Fit Line at Total" button. Depending on the SPSS version, you find this button in slightly different ways (i have v 17) but the button is there and i can find it.

The problem is that the button (icon) is not available to click on. it shows up as grey instead of black. This is a problem that occurs intermittently for me - It works on some data and not others. i am so confused. Right now i have something to finish and it isn't working - for a very simple set of two variables (with decimals). Are the decimals the issue?? Surely SPSS is able to handle that?
please any help is appreciated.. i have been searching everywhere for help.

Best Answer - Chosen by Asker

Try using the Graphs > legacy dialogs - for chart building.
The problem has something to do with the chart builder

Resolved Question

Interview help: Can anyone tell me what is involved in role of Event Marketing?

Or do you know any websites which details job descriptions?

Best Answer - Chosen by Asker

If you are applying or have a job in event marketing it generally means that you are involved in the marketing side of events as well as organising. I have been an event manager for the best part of 10 years. The key skills that you may need are project management, working in a pressure cooker environment, good communicator, manage multiple tasks, good with numbers and the thing with most events is something always goes wrong the key skill here will be for you to manage issues without it affecting the client, company you work for. The kind of things you have to do is source venues, catering, planning, brainstorming, entertainment, logistics, audience, invitations, bookings the list is quite extensive.

the key advice i can give here is prepare for the unexpected events are that risky so many things can go wrong.

You could probably get detailed job descriptions from the sites listed below

  • Simply google the term: google ad url. You should come to a page that allows you to add the URL of the page you want to add to its search engine, then click enter.

It might take a few weeks for adding and indexins since many new sites are submitted to Google each day.

    The link is below.

    Source(s):

  • The best way to get you site indexed is to get "followed" links from URLs on other sites that are indexed. You can do this by posting useful information on related forums or blogs with links back to your site, submitting related articles to article submission sites like ezinearticles.com. You can list your site in free directories. All of these methods yield "cheap" or "low quality" inbound links, but it should be enough to get you indexed.

You can also submit your domain to the search engines or submit a sitemap.xml via Google's Webmaster Tools, sites that get indexed this way often later get deindexed if they have not acquired any inbound links from other sites.

HOW DO I DESCRIBE THE SIZE AND TRENDS IN SALES?? (BTEC retailing)?

hi im doing BTEC Business
on unit 41 (understanding retailing) one of my task is to "descibe the structure and organisation of the retail sector"

we have to include the size and trends in sales (ONS reports are useful)

(basically we have to get the ONS report for sales, and desribe the size and trends on that report)

so how do i describe the size and trends in sales??

please help
my teacher is useless

thanks

Best Answer - Chosen by Voters

So if you have the ONS report...

"Looking through the recent report, overall spending has increased in recent years, but the recession has taken a hit. We see the entire industry growing at xx% yearly..."

Basically you're just describing whether sales are increasing or decreasing, and why.

Trrends explain that, so growth in small car and MPV's has driven by environmental concerns lower taxes and reduces prices while large luxury car sector has fallen in sales while profits are up (or vice versa!)

Hope that helps, in summary sales show "what", trends explain "how" and "why".

  • PayPal

With 72 million accounts worldwide and payment volume which is
growing at a rate of 44 percent each year, PayPal by far is the
most popular third party processor on the Internet.

PayPal is a simple and affordable payment solution for those
online merchants who are unable to or don't want to go through
the complex process of setting up a bank merchant account.

At present, PayPal has four unique solutions for merchants.

PayPal Website Payments Standard: This solution allows you to
accept credit cards on your website. However, the transaction is
processed on the PayPal secure server. The customer can choose to
pay either by credit card or PayPal. If you don't have shopping
cart as yet, you may get one from PayPal; or you can integrate
PayPal solution to your existing shopping cart.

Cost: No monthly fee. No setup fees. No cancellation fees.
    Transaction Fees are 1.9% to 2.9% + $0.30 US$.

PayPal Website Payments Pro: This solution is virtually same as
having your own merchant account. If a customer pays by a credit
card, PayPal works as a payment gateway for you. The customer
does not leave your website at anytime if she pays you by a
    credit card.

Cost: $20.00 US$ monthly fee. No setup fees. No cancellation
    fees. Transaction Fees are 2.2% to 2.9% + $0.30 US$.

PayPal Email Payments: This is the payment system PayPal started
with. You send invoice to your customers by email and get paid on
    PayPal.

Cost: No monthly fee. No setup fees. No cancellation fees.
    Transaction Fees are 1.9% to 2.9% + $0.30 US$.

PayPal as an Additional Payment Option: If you already have a
merchant account and you would like to add PayPal to your
existing payment solutions, you can use this option.

If you are planning to sell products through eBay, you definitely
should have PayPal option. According to eBay, three out of four
eBay customers choose to pay by PayPal.

    Hope this helps!

    Source(s):

  • The fees for "Google Checkout" are similar to those for Paypal. 3.4% + 20p - some of paypal's higher end business facilities have a £20 per month fee

Both support the creation of "Buy now" buttons that do not need special website capabilities (only the support for inserting the generated code into the page).
    http://www.paypal.com/cgi-bin/webscr?cmd…

Google Checkout has the additional option of adding a free shopping cart (for multiple items), if you want a cart (free) to use with paypal, Mals-e may be worth a try - http://www.mals-e.com/ - also usable in "standard" web space, such as ISP homepage servers.
  • To add a PayPal button to your site is free.
To have PayPal integrated into your site is not free and comes in a software that you buy.
  • no - the only fees you pay are when you receive money thru paypal - ( 3-6%)
also no charge for transferring money back and forth between your bank acct and your paypal acct

    Source(s):

  • Paypal charges you per transaction. So for every pound that is paid to you they take a percentage rather than charge you a standing fee.

The setup is totally free at Paypal.
It only charges when transaction happens.

How do I get my businesses website on page 1 of google?

Resolved Question

How do I get my businesses website on page 1 of google?

I've recently taken over a business and the old owners never really did any web advertising, despite being an online store! I'm trying to bump my website up the google rankings - currently, when you search 'children's wedding favours' (which I sell) I don't come anywhere close...I have yet to find myself on a google search!
Has anyone got any tips on how to improve this? I'm just about to start a google adwords campaign and am having a new website made by a company that apparently are quite good at optimising your website, but is there anything more I can do?
My website is www.eventsmiles.co.uk if that helps at all!

Best Answer - Chosen by Asker

I just looked at your website, its invisible to search engines, it has no meta tags. Unless you know how to edit web pages, there is nothing you, yourself can do. (But why not learn as its not that hard, and cheaper than paying me / another company to do it for you)

The meta tags are what madison the person above me is refering to

  • Search engine optimisation...ensure that key words/phrases are registered with google that relate to your site, the products you sell etc.

Secondly, get your company/website well known by advertising, blogging and maybe doing a few deals with related websites so that potential customers can link through to your website and you onto theirs.
  • To get a good search engine rankings, you'll need knowledge on SEO. There two kinds of optimization, the on page optimization is the optimizing the site itself which involves modifying of keywords on domain name, title tags, headings and contents, the second is the off page optimization or the link building, it involves creating of quality backlinks getting from relevant sites.
  • Ah...some times ago even i had these kind of many questions in my mind, i were search for new ideas, great techniques and effective tactics that can change my world, and suddenly i found ebizsubmit while browsing google, then i let them know about what actually i want and they asure me that they can do it for me.

Then in just 3 months of their commitment and through their services i got better search engine ranking, very effective online presence and increase 63% sales marigin. so i will recommend you to have look at once.

  • Search engine optimization. You can have companies do it for you, but basically its about editing your content. Make sure it's clean and is straight to the point. When you upload pictures and other things you have to make sure their tags are specific to what they are. URL should be simple too. It's all about word choice.

    Try googling search engine optimization.
  • before you waist alot of money on these expensive ads you should try some free ad sites like usfreeads.com ilist.com adsglobe.com there are tons of these. If you feel it is necesary to spend money on google then use good keywords that really describe your site you are right if you cant get to the top its not worth it most people only go through the first couple pages before they choose one. I have a blog on ways to generate business email me if you need any more help.

  • I'm going to have to chime in the same way: Search Engine Optimization.

The only difference is I would make sure to get a course in Google Search Engine Optimization best practice techniques.
  • I noticed there are 26,300 results (2630 pages) for that phrase, is your page better than 26,290 others?

the two big factor for ranking are (1) relevance to the key phrase, ideally it would appear in the domain name, header, and body text. (2) Perceived popularity (authority), gauged by the number of sites, particularly relevant ones that link to yours, that's where the seo effort comes into play.

The sites on page 1 have a page rank of 0-2, they are not seo monsters.

To snoop on the competition appearing in page one, examining their incoming links using the site explorer. https://siteexplorer.search.yahoo.com/my…
  • I am going to march to the same tune with the above peeps and I will add my own tune as well.

If you want to do it yourself, please do take a course so you know what to do and what to expect.

If you want to pay someone to do it for you, it can cost a bit per month and it will still take some time till you rank on page one.

Either way, in this case time is everything.

NOW here is where I am drumming a different tune.

If you pay attention, you will see Google is now allowing videos to be ranked on their pages. This is something that is being overlooked by many and being used by the powerful. You can create a video, send it out to the world and have it backlink to you site. It not as easy as I said it, but I am using a great program that makes this work.

I suggest you look into it further and if you would like more info about it then you can contact me via Yahoo or roy[at]roynaim[dot]com

American Airlines advert, hall of shame for recent advertising?

Resolved Question

American Airlines advert, hall of shame for recent advertising?

I saw an advert for American airlines the other nite on telly. Their slogan was, at the end, 'we know why you fly.' Well, mate, I dont know bout you, but the reason i fly is cos that's about the only way to get from A to B across the ocean, unless you like a long boat ride. I mean, what are they suggesting? that people fly so they can s*ag in the public toilets, or flirt with some cabin crew who never look as hot at they do in the adverts, or cos they love being sardined in between people for hours? f*cks sake, and these people work for major ad agencies. Do you think this is a good slogan, or do you agree it qualifies for the top ten most laughable of all time? x

  • Most laughable? Nooooo. Stupid? Yes.

I stopped flying AA; they suck and their attendents seem to be bi-polar.
