Does anyone know what Industry Positioning is?

Resolved Question

Does anyone know what Industry Positioning is?

I'm analyzing a magazine and they're asking for the Industry Positioning of the magazine but I don't know what that is so if anyone could help, that would be great :)

Thanks in advance

Positioning in its most simplistic of forms is the position of your organisation or product in an existing or new market place.

  • Industry positioning may refer to the magazine demographic or who the magazine thinks their readers are.

Al Ries and Jack Trout wrote one of the first books on the subject way back in 1981. It's called "Positioning, The Battle For Your Mind, How to be seen and heard in the over crowded marketplace". He's updated it a few times. If you can't find a copy in your local library just search the keyword "Positioning" at Amazon.
