How much would you pay to have your web site on the first page of the top search engines?

Resolved Question

How much would you pay to have your web site on the first page of the top search engines?

Best Answer - Chosen by Voters

Good question, it makes you look closely at the worth or value of top search results.

It really would depend upon the product or services offered by the business wishing to be on the first page, as any expenditure on marketing needs to provide adequate return on investment ( ROI )

For businesses with high value products, the price could be much higher than for a business offering low cost items, although quantity and volume of sales would also have an influence.

Businesses also vary in the number of products or services they offer.

So there are multiple factors involved in trying to evaluate the cost / value of how much it is worth to be on the first page of the search engines.

  • If you are talking about the organic listings the you don't have to pay anything, although if you wanted you could pay someone to SEO your site to improve the chances of being found for particular phrases when they are searched.

If you are asking about the paid adverts that appear on engines like Google then you pay for each click - how much depends on what you are trying to appear for,

SEO can take a lot of time and effort, hence the reason why people prefer to buy in the expertise if they are running a business and want to concentrate on the actual business. How much SEO costs depends on who you use normally.

  • Hi,

Like many have said you cannot simply pay your way to the top of Search Engines it is a specific process to reach the top and will often take a long time.

There are many ways to help reach the first page of Search Engines but again there is too much to go into detail. I would suggest you research Search Engine Optimisation.

There are alternatives whereby you can pay to appear in the top part of Google, in the sponsored search results. This you can pay for and the amount would vary determining on how competitative your key word is. For more research Google Adwords or Yahoo Publisher.

    Hope this helps.

  • For Google, your placement in the natural search results area (the main search results) is not determined by how much you pay to advertise, but instead your SEO score. Not going to get into the details of how that is caluculated but you can find tons of resources out there to explain it better. If you did any Google search, you might notice the right hand side lists: Sponsored Links. These are paid advertisements. I used to work for a software company that paid $250,000 / year to have our company's name come up first when a common key word/phrase was used as a search term

  • it really depends what your website is about, if its about something unique or uncommon then it will hit the top quite easy with no cost, the less sites that have the keywords people search for the more chance they will become top.

if you have a common site like gambling, porn or free stuff then it can cost a fortune to hit the top but if you do make it and get over a million hits a month you can make good money selling advertisement spaces on your pages

just remember the more links to your site, even from page to page then the more hits it will generate and a higher spot it will achieve

  • Bit of a vague question. Do you mean come first on the SE for certain search terms? This is not that difficult. It takes just three things:1. A fairly good website in terms of subject, content, design and coding. 2. A mentality and ability to improve on 1. and 3. Patience.

It won't just happen. It takes a lot of effort and time.

Don't fool yourself if you get first page for a very low rated term.

  • You got some reliable and experienced people to work for you. Those who are effective will charge you reasonably but getting a first page if the competition is high is a huge task, but not impossible...you these guys through their website here: www.mediacraft.in

  • There are too many factors to consider for a general answer. Having more time than money I learned SEO and did it myself. It takes time but it can be done. Write good content and have lots of related pages. Start a blog and write articles to start getting some links.

Read free SEO newsletters like SitePro news to get an idea where to start.

  • I pay about £250 for full web hosting and design and we are on first page of most search engines. Difficult to be on first page unless the criteria for the search is very narrow.
