Creative ideas of what to do with £100,000?

Best Answer - Chosen by Asker

Well I recently moved to Peru and here £100,000 goes a fair way. I am looking to buy a hotel by the beach for £200,000, perhaps you should become my business partner!

Creative how? Can you afford to lose it? What do you want to get out of your money?

If you want to be truly creative, are not looking to make money with it then I would invest the lot as Kiva Loans.

Kiva do micro loans to small businesses in underprivileged parts of the world. They have a very high repayment rate, but I don't think you get much or any interest. However your money would have a huge impact on a huge number of people. So go for it. Imagine the difference you could make!

  • invest about 20 000 for future use , and then buy a south african boer seun to come learn you about the real wildlife in South Africa or just come to south africa and exchange the money then you have roughly R1.3 million rands and go wild have aafrican adventure go hunting shoot a kudu and go to jeffreys bay and surf and watch rugby in loftus and then just satay on for the 2010 soccer world cup! • All depends on your circumstances.

First I would pay off any debt.

Then assuming you don't want to move house etc, you could invest the rest, make full use of your ISA allowance (tax free). I would not invest it all with the same company or institution.
I'd probably, put some in a cash ISA (if you don't have one you can still use 2009/2010 allowance before April and then use the 2010/11 allowance in May.
Some in premium bonds (Ok rate is poor but so are bank deposit rates)
invest some in the stock market under an ISA.

Try this website, the forum on here is good for these types of question:

  • Its not really creative but I would say put it in the bank in a high interest savings account (if you can find one at the moment!).

Don't invest as its too risky in the current market.
  • With the economy and the banks as they are, put it under your mattress.
  • one should do few thing

pay off you bill and debt

buy something u were wait for

    and invest some safely
  • as we can see the banks as they are ...it is better to put it under your pillow
  • buy a car :=)
    Start a company
